Intern - Cryptography Protocols

The Data Protection Lab, based in Düsseldorf, develops practical cryptographic technologies focusing on data integrity and confidentiality. To support our research activities, we are seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated students. In this role, the student will contribute to the development of applied cryptographic solutions for data security, work on real-world industrial challenges, and help improve the security of our current and future products and services.

Your mission

• Implementing and testing cryptographic protocols

• Writing technical documents

• Other assistance work

Your areas of expertise

• Currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master Student in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field

• Familiarity with C/CPP and/or Rust, and Linux system. Ability to independently program and debug

• Good skill in technical writing

• Ability to read academic literature in computer science and IETF protocol standards

• Proficiency in using LaTeX

• Having taken courses in cryptography or cryptography-related mathematics is a plus

• Experience in using cryptographic libraries in project programming, or having written cryptographic libraries or cryptography-related applications is a plus

• Familiarity with other programming languages, including but not limited to Python and Java is welcome

• Experience in application development and familiarity with technologies such as Docker is a plus

• Proficiency in written and spoken English language
