The Redmond GSA team is part of the Microsoft Entra Network Access product family, which provides a Security Service Edge solution to our customers and brings modern Zero Trust principles that make it easy to govern and secure access to every app and resource. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute deeply across both the network and identity domains—an intersection where secure connectivity and strong authentication come together, increasingly enhanced by AI‑driven insights. Our solution combines cloud intelligence with lightweight customer‑managed agents that provide line of sight into private networks. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to help drive the next step in our agent experience, extending our capabilities into a fully managed solution that removes adoption barriers and accelerates customer value.

This role is targeting an immediate start date.
Responsibilities
- Designs and implements highly scalable, durable, low latency systems, while effectively collaborating with peers.
- Participates in code reviews and team planning activities.
- Learns about, shares new ideas, and leverages software developer and AI-based tools to create, debug, and maintain code for features.
- Uses internal tools, open source, and AI when possible.
- Learns about and contributes to operations of live service as issues arise on a rotational, on-call basis.
- Identifies solutions and mitigations to simple issues impacting performance or functionality of Live Site services and escalates as necessary.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
- OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
- Experience in server-side development, OOP and SOLID concepts.
- Experience with any modern continuous delivery/deployment systems
- Familiarity with Application (HTTP, HTTPS), transport & security (TCP/UDP, TLS) protocols .
- Experience designing, building, and operating large scale distributed systems that can sustain rapid growth.
- Experience with Rust.
- Experience incorporating AI whenever applicable.

Software Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $84,200 - $165,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $109,000 - $180,400 per year.
